Wow this is serious ....According to the Lagos State Drivers’ Institute LASDRI, which has trained about 65,000 drivers since August 2009, about 22 per cent of the trained drivers or 14,300 were discovered to be partially blind.
According to LASDRI boss, before the commencement of operation, various researches were carried out where it showed that 75 percent of auto crashes were due to human errors.

RAPIST COLLAPSE AFTER BEING TOLD WOMAN HE RAPED IS HIV POSITIVE
A convicted rapist
collapsed in shock and dismay after police told him he may have contracted HIV
from the woman he assaulted, according to the BBC.
Richard Thomas, 27, was
sentenced last week to five years and four months for raping a woman while she
slept. He pleaded guilty to the crime July 20.
Thomas "let himself
into her home uninvited in the middle of the night and she awoke to find him
raping her from behind," the UK's Telegraph reports.
"He was arrested and
interviewed and said he had been drinking heavily, taken cocaine and ecstasy
and could not recall the incident," added prosecutors.
Thomas eventually learned
that the woman he attacked is HIV-positive, and even though he has his awful
self to blame, did not take the
news well.
Test results later this

HIV IS A BLESSING TO ME - GLORIA ASUQUO
In an encounter with Sola Ogundipe in Abuja, the energetic 24-year-old recounted the frustrations of living as a pauper in addition to the ignominy of HIV stigma and discrimination.
Today, Gloria who once contemplated death until sheer luck and doggedness turned her fortunes around and brought unhindered access to the elusive, life-saving treatment has undergone a transformation. The same HIV infection that took her to the brink of total despair is today a source of her blessing. How did it happen? She tells it all in this encounter.
Excerpts:
Living with HIV stigma
I’m a young person diagnosed HIV positive at 12. I was in Primary six going to JSS1. I got infected through blood transfusion. The stigma was so much I couldn’t bear it. There were drugs at that time, but they were too expensive for my parents to afford. Each time my father raised the money to pay for my drugs, my mother would challenge him. Why are you giving her the money? she would ask. We know that she would soon die. Why is she taking the drugs? Why are we wasting money? My mother went to the Church and told the Reverend who announced my status to the community.
He advised I should be taken to one of the General Hospitals and abandoned there to die. But my father refused to heed such advice. Rather, he challenged the Reverend to take one of his four children to the hospital and abandon her there to die first, only then would he obey the instruction. The pressure became too much.
My mother separated me from the rest of the family. She demarcated my own part of the house separate from the others. The stigma became too much.

Its Nando’s country (Tanzania) accusing Ghana of giving them Chlamydia. That’s just the plain reality.

50 HOMOSEXUALS,618 PROSTITUTION SPOTS IDENTIFIED IN ANAMBRA STATE
Anambra
State Government says it has identified over 50 homosexual and 618 prostitution
spots as HIV and AIDS high-risk targets in the state.
The
Director of the state’s AIDS Control Agency, Dr. John Ndibe, told the News
Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Onitsha, Anambra that the government would
use its limited funds to target such spots and ensure that people operating
these places were educated on the need to protect themselves and their clients
against the deadly scourge.
Ndibe said
the agency, as a coordinating agency on HIV and AIDS activities, was committed
to making sure that it gets the mother-to-child transmission of HIV and AIDS to
a zero level in the state as directed by President Goodluck Jonathan.
He said
the agency had conducted a survey of high-risk factors and spots for HIV and
AIDS in the state in order to effectively cut the transmission of the deadly
virus.
He said,
“Part of the result of the epidemic report was to identify spots where they
operate; now having identified spots were they operate and we have an estimate
of their numbers.
“We now
use the hard funds to target them in those places so that even if they continue
with their trade, they will be doing it in a safe way, in such a way that they
don’t transmit infection because basically that is what we want to do.”
Meanwhile, Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has said
everything will be done to protect the state from adverse effects of flooding
this year.

They rarely have good food to eat as their father barely provide for their feeding when he comes back from his commercial driving job.
Their mother moved out in 2012, leaving them at the mercy of a predatory father who rarely had time for the children’s welfare.
The children’s mother, Kemi, spoke with our correspondent on the telephone on Saturday.
Her voice shook as she expressed shock at what her husband had done to their daughters.
She told Saturday PUNCH, “I moved out last year because it became clear I was not safe in his house anymore. My children and I were suffering. He was not taking care of us in anyway. We rarely had food to eat.
“He would beat me at the slightest provocation. When the beating was too much and it got to the stage where my mother was the one bringing food for us to eat, I took my children to live with my mother and I moved to Ibadan.Did Kemi starve her husband of sex when she was still with him?
“But when my husband learnt about where my children were, he went to take them from there. I had no idea that while I was with him, my husband was already sleeping with his own children.
“I have not been able to eat anything since yesterday that I was informed about what that man did to my daughters. I am really sad.”
She replied, “Sir, you need to understand that my husband was the kind of person who wanted sex every day. After two children, should we still be acting like children when it comes to sleeping with each other?
“He would ask for sex almost every day and anytime I said no, he would beat me up. Sometimes, he would pour urine on my head just to humiliate me for turning him down. He called me all sorts of names.
“I was a hairdresser, but he said I should stop the work, because he thought I was prostituting myself in the process. He called me prostitute at the slightest provocation. All these were the reasons I decided to leave him. I have seen my daughters a number of times since I left their father’s house, but they never told me about what he was doing to them.”

An angry mob has set three suspected armed robbers ablaze in Ikotun, Lagos State, shortly after robbing a recharge card trader at Second Junction bus stop on
Governor’s Road. The
recharge card trader, Ese Akporhono, who had a bandage on her head, said that the robbers came to her shop posing as customers.
She said a
few seconds later, the suspects pointed a gun at her and stole recharge cards
worth N400,000 before fleeing. She said,
“Around 5pm, I was closing the shop when the men approached me saying they
wanted to buy recharge card.
“Before I
knew what was happening, the men brought out guns and went into my shop, They
stole recharge cards and money. I engaged them in a struggle and attempted to

The robbers allegedly snatched a motorcycle and shot
a man in the area and were fleeing when a motorist knocked them down. An
eyewitness, who requested anonymity, said a bystander prevented them from

When his attempt to go cold turkey failed, he decided to build the bizarre medieval-style headgear from 130ft of copper wire. Every morning his wife and 14-year-old daughter who each have a set of keys seals him inside the cage.

cancer, so I decided to make a cage. I was inspired by motorcycle
helmets."
It may not be a
conventional method to quit cigarettes - but Ibrahim insists his experiment has
worked. After just two days inside
the cage, he claims he's now a non-smoker. Hmmmm....
