MTN TO PAY 90 MILLION NAIRA FOR POOR SERVICES

Leading telecoms service provider,MTN NIGERIA COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED is to pay a fine of 90 million for poor qualityof service for the period July to December, The Nigerian Communications commission said on friday. Director of public affairs at NCC, Mr Tony Ojobo,said this in Abuja on Friday while announcing the postponement of planned takeoff of mobile number portability by three weeks. Number portability is an application that will enable subscribers to migrate from one service provider to another without loosing their numbers. The service is expected to put network operators on their toes in offering good quality of service at very competitive tarrifs. He added, it had been communicated to the operator that it has till April 3 to pay the fine of 90 million for the poor quality of service on its network. He also said the postponement is to enable regulatory agency to sensitise Nigerians on how to port their no from one network to another.
