All
great music groups are never meant to last, and this includes our very
own Camp Mulla.
This really doesn’t come as surprise since the teens were bound to grow
up.
Yesterday
night, they took onto their official Face book page to announce
individual/solo projects soon to be released signaling its breakup.
This group had grown
a big fan base over a short period of time, having over 40,000 fans
on Facebook and over 30,000 on twitter more than any other East African
musician.
Although
it joined the regional music scene three years ago, the hip hop teeny
group had received nominations, won awards and the group’s musical
style, fashion sense and origins drew comparisons with American outfit
Black Eyed Peas.
After
honing their skills through some experimental gigs, Mykie Tonie and
rappers Shappa Man and Taio Tripper, co-founded the group in 2009 later
recruiting Miss Karun and K’Cous. But now that it is splitting, their
fans will no longer enjoy a full band concert of hits songs like Chini ya maji, and Party don’t stop in the following years.
The
group has been constituted by Taio Tripper who has been the Emcee,
Rapper, Vocalist and lyricist, Vladimir has been rapper, vocalist and
lyricist, Mykie Toni the CEO and Manager, Miss Karun the lead
vocalist, songwriter, K’Cous – Record producer, Emcee, Songwriter,
rapper, Shappa Man the Record producer, rapper and songwriter and Mojay
wa 4A has been the record producer .
Camp
Mulla were nominated in the 2012 BET Awards for the “Best International
Act- Africa” category, becoming the first East Africans to be nominated
for a BET Award but lost to winners Sarkodie and Wizkid.
Blu3 started the same way, now it’s no more, hope Camp Mulla doesn’t take the same journey.
