Marrakech thrashed rivals the Black Starlets of Ghana 6-1 in
the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Under-17 Championship going
on in Morocco.
Striker Isaac Success was on the score sheet four times with goals in the 10th, 29th,60th and 68th minute with Bernard Bulbwa and Kelechi Iheanacho completing the rout with goals in the 29th and 94th minute.
Ghana scored a consolatory goal through Yeboah Yaw who hit a great 30 yards shot that caught keeper Adeyinka Adewale flaat footed.
In the other Group B match played earlier, Congo and Cote d’Ivoire played a 1-1 draw.
On Saturday hosts Morocco got off to a flying start by brushing aside Gabon 4-1 in the group A opening match, in Casablanca, while Tunisia opened their account with a 3-1 win over Botswana.
The championship features eight teams with host Morocco, Gabon, Tunisia and Botswana in group A, and Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria and Ghana in group B.
All the semi-finalists at the tournament will represent Africa at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, to be held in United Arab Emirates, from October 17 to November 8.
