SHAKIRA'S EX-BOYFRIEND SUES HER FOR A $100 MILLION

Columbian superstar Shakira née Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is being sued by ex-boyfriend Antonio de la Rúa. De la Rúa filed a lawsuit in NYC in 2012, claiming that he is partially responsible for building Ripoll’s, Shakira brand during their 11-year courtship. Given his claim that he is partially responsible for building her brand and securing lucrative multimillion music deals for the singer, de la Rúa said that he is entitled to $100 million dollars of the Ripoll’s profits. De la Rúa also claims that he helped Shakira secure a deal with Live Nation/Sony, which would allow her to release three albums in the future. However in legal documents filed by Ripoll, she states that although de la Rúa did assist her in executing decisions that were important to career, he was never her manager and she was already was an international success when they began dating in 2000. The singer admitted that the only agreement that she signed with her ex-boyfriend was a document stating that they would keep their assets separate if they split. Yet, it was reported in 2012, that De la Rúa, an Argentinian lawyer and the son of former Argentinian president Fernando de la Rúa, co-owns philanthropic initiatives with Ripoll as well as a house in Uruguay and an apartment in NYC. Who do you believe the lawyer or the singer?
