ALIKO DANGOTE BECOMES FIRST AFRICAN TO HIT $20 BILLION NOW AMONG 25 RICHEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD

Nigerian billionaire and Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has become the first African entrepreneur to lay claim to a $20 billion fortune as the stock value of his largest holding, Dangote Cement, leaped just about three-fourths since March when Forbes released its annual ranking of the world’s richest people.

Aliko Dangote’s 93% stake in the cement company is now worth $19.5 billion. Add this to his controlling stakes in other publicly-listed companies like Dangote Sugar and National Salt Company of Nigeria and his significant shareholdings in other blue-chips like Zenith Bank, UBA Group and Dangote Flour; his extensive real estate portfolio, jets, yachts and current cash position, which includes more than $300 million in recently awarded Dangote Cement dividends, Dangote is now worth more than $20 billion.

Put into context, the Nigerian billionaire is now among the top 25 richest people in the world, richer than Russia’s richest man, Alisher Usmanov, richer than India’s Lakshmi Mittal and running neck and neck with India’s Mukesh Ambani. He is catching up to such Americans as Google’s billionaire founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

The unprecedented surge in Dangote Cement’s share price is largely a market response to the company’s impressive 2013 Q1 results.

You see, it is very easy to keep a man. Dont spend your money on fake hair, fake butts, etc. men are very easy to please, just follow the easy 3 steps, LOL

LOLA OMOTAYO EXPLAINS WHY SHE IS NOT MARRIED TO PETER OKOYE OF P-SQUARE YET

After having had two cute kids for Peter Okoye of Psquare, the question that pops up in everyone's mind is "Why aren't they married yet?"

Well, Peter Okoye's baby mama and heart throb, Lola Omotayo has cleared the air on the issue - it's not Peter Okoye's fault as speculated by the blogosphere!

In a recent interview with a National newspaper, she disclosed all there is on her relationship with the musician and why she is not in a hurry to get married YET!

See excerpts below:

Many people got to know you when your relationship with Peter Okoye started. Who really is Lola Omotayo?
Simply put, what you see is what you get. I can’t really define who I am per se, but I’m humble, caring, loving and a professional in the oil and gas profession. I take my work and family very seriously because they are very important to me, my family in particular.
Your heartthrob, Peter is quite successful, but you seem not to depend on his wealth. What’s your driving force?
I believe that as a lady, you have to support your partner. You can’t put everything on your partner; it is important to add value as well. Even though I’m not bringing as much as he brings to the table, at least, I’m adding value and making things a lot easier.
Honestly, that’s the way I was brought up; I can’t rely on someone for everything. I have to be independent. I should be able to buy something for my kids without asking their father for money. I feel good as a person knowing that I can do things for myself, not that I want to feel above him in anyway, but I just feel it is important for me to add some value to his life as much as he adds to mine.

SEE HOW A LOT OF NIGERIAN CELEBRITIES MAKE MONEY OFFSTAGE

Although most celebrities earn much from entertaining their fans, they also venture into other businesses from which they rake in a lot of dough. Saturday Beats beams the torch on some celebs and their various businesses.

The question on everybody’s lips when it comes to this dark-skinned comedian from Ondo state is, how does he do it? He may not be the funniest comedian in the land, but he is one of the wealthiest and most business oriented. He recently bought his wife a car worth about N10m. He gained fame through impersonating Rev. Chris Okotie in his jokes, and in 2006, when he began, he was named the Best Up-Coming Comedian in Nigeria. Seven years down the line, he has the AY Show which gets good reviews. AY is the CEO, Corporate World Entertainment, an outfit that is focused on packaging events and providing contents for radio and television. His outfit powers AY Live, The AY Show and Open Mic Challenge -the monthly talent hunt programme that produced the likes of Emeka Smith, MC Shakara, Elenu, and Seyi Law. The newest spinoff of the AY brand is AY’s Crib. He has also ventured into writing, with a book, AY’s Diary.

A former IT Specialist in Australia claims to be Jesus and he’s already gathered some followers. According to Sky News, Alan John Miller, or AJ as he prefers to be known, runs a religious movement known as the Divine Truth from his home near the small town of Kingaroy in the state of Queensland.

Miller also claims that his Australian partner (in the picture) is Mary Magdalene and she was present at the crucifixion. He recalled raising his friend, Lazarus from the dead.

The weird thing is that people actually believe this man. A California man, George Hamel left behind a business and his wife in the United States to be closer to Mr Miller and his teachings. He firmly believes Mr Miller is Jesus Christ and insists there’s nothing sinister about him.

Another British woman Louise “Luli” Faver, 39, is a former neuroscientist who gave up her career to be closer to the couple.

MAKEMBA SUES CONFIDENCE HAUGEN OF BIG BROTHER OVER FASHION LINE

An Accra Fast Track High Court has on Thursday granted an ex parte application brought against owner of Aphrodisiac Night Club, Confidence Haugen to stop using a logo she is currently using for her Konfidence fashion line.

In September 2012, Confidence launched her fashion line which is made up shoes, bags and accessories.

The court, presided over by Justice Cecilia H Sowah, placed a restraining order after Ghanaian designer Makeba Boateng, who owns Keba Clothing, sued her for infringing on her intellectual property rights having created and actively used and popularized the logo since 2002.

The court ordered the cessation of the use of her "K" with a butterfly logo for the Konfidence Fashion Limited and its products.

Confimakeba

According to her lawyers, Makeba has been duly acknowledged by the Registrar General's Department as being first-in-time to initiate the process to register the logo under the country's trade mark laws.

Makeba popularly known together with her clothing line logo in the industry as Keba, according to her lawyers, personally alerted Confidence when the defendant sought advice from her in July 2011 about how to go about the clothing business. Her lawyers said, Makeba revealed to the former Big Brother Africa housemate that the logo she intended to use was hers but Confidence did not seem to have taken the advice and has gone as far as to alter the C in her name to K just to infringe her intellectual property rights in the logo.

Wow! I've been hearing a lot about Oral Sex and its dangers and it has been confirmed as Hollywood superstar actor, Micheal Douglas just admitted his throat cancer was caused by Oral Sex, not smoking and drinking as many believed.

He made the Frank admission during an interview with the Guardian newspaper when asked if he regretted smoking and drinking in the past, he replied..

No. Because without wanting to get to specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, which actually comes about from cunnilingus"

He was diagnosed with cancer in August 2010 when a walnut sized tumor was found in his tongue. He was once a self confessed Sex addict too..

GUNMEN INVADES OBASANJO'S FARM

Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers had on Friday morning stormed Obasanjo’s farms in Mfamosong, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State and kidnapped two Asians said to be staff of the Oil Palm Estate.
It was gathered that the kidnappers who were said to have stormed the farm in a taxi, shot sporadically to scare people away from the farm and immediately kidnapped the two persons and took them to a waiting boat near the seaside.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a resident of the area narrated that, “Today in Mfamosong, kidnappers came and kidnapped two white men inside the company premises. They came in a taxi to a farm that used to belong to former president, Obasanjo but has been sold out to a Chinese company. The kidnappers drove inside the premises of the company, shooting sporadically and abducted two white men into their taxi and drove straight to the waterside where they put them in a speed boat and left with them,” he stated.

My child,

Its just over 31 months since that day I took the stroll down the aisle with your mummy and said our vows before God and man. Since that day, we have been waiting expectantly for you. Sometimes we wonder what is taking you so long. Sometimes we imagine its taking so long because you must be very special. Most times our hearts have remained undoubtedly sure that your coming is very close, and in fact closer than we think. But then, you do not need to keep us waiting anymore.

But don’t think we have not done our fair share of things that are believed will make you come quickly. I have been severally tested and found to be perfect, having millions of you inside me. Mummy has been severally tested too and everything is in place, no cysts, no fibroids. And we have sown seeds too, financially and otherwise. We have invested in other children and continue to do so. We have followed plethora of advice on what and what not to do. We have not allowed our expectations to metamorphose into anxiety… yet you are yet to come.

THE Abia State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Chisom Ihemebirim from Amuzi Obowo in Imo State, for selling his one and half years old son, Chidubem Chisom for N500,000. The command also arrested one Abraham Ukaiwe, 27, from Asaga Ohafia in AbiaState said to be Ihemebirim’s accomplice in the deal to sell the boy.

Little Chidubem Chisom was said to have been sold to one Mercy Nwachinemere, 45, of Umudi Abayi in Osisioma, Abia State who has also been arrested. According to the Police Commissioner, Mohammed Tilli Abubakar, little master Chidubem Chisom was recovered from the buyer.

Located in the quiet, landlocked, stony, ancient Idah, the headquarters of Igala Kingdom in Kogi State, North-central Nigeria, Idah Prison built in 1901 by the British colonialists, is unarguably the oldest existing prison in Nigeria. An outsider who sees the prison’s high fence would begin to wonder if it has existed for that length of time since it has the semblance of other prison fences across the country, but that is the fence built by the Federal Government of Nigeria much later to give the colonial prison a modern outlook. As you wade through the tight security at the main gate, you find yourself inside a compound that serves as the front of the administrative block which forms part of the modern fence.

Then, right in front of you is the ancient building with all the attributes of an antiquity. Divided into two wings of male and female sections and a kitchen standing in-between, there appears a small and narrow entrance into the main prison compound, which is made of a very thick and strong iron rod. A peep through the narrow gate quickly brings into focus, inmates seated in clusters and chatting. The impenetrable walls are made of stones and the roofing appears to have suffered incalculable damage from weather elements, but they are still very solid from all indications, although the zinc is rusty, an indication that they could be leaking when it rains.

TIWA SAVAGE: TEEBILLZ INSPIRED ME IN WRITING SOME OF THE SONGS IN MY ALBUM

Here is what Tiwa said in a recent interview.

How do you feel when you are with Teebillz?

I feel safe, the safeness with him is at another level.

You kind of deceived the public about your relationship with him before your engagement
Deceived? I don't think I owe the public any detail about my private life. I will have to choose when to let out something about my life or when not to let it out. I don't see a reason why I must disclose details of my private life. That shouldn't be anybody's business.

As your husband-to-be, is there any song about him on the album?

I can't really say if there is. But as a human being and as a songwriter, it is difficult to write a song without writing about your life and experience. He surely inspired me in writing some of the songs in the album.

WOMEN IN AKWA-IBOM BATH WATER OF HUSBAND'S CORPSES AS TRADITION

Widows have suffered hard times in Akwa Ibom state in a custom allowing the seizure of deceased husbands’ properties and subjecting their widows to inhuman practices such as shaving of the head and making them drink the water used to bath the corpses of their husbands, among others. A sigh of relieve can now be heaved in the Southern Nigerian state as the custom has now become illegal.
In a bill passed by the House of Assembly and signed by the governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, the state government outlawed the custom which maltreat widows after the deaths of their husbands, declaring it as unlawful and inhuman.
Speaking on Democracy Day, the governor declared that it had become unlawful for widows to be maltreated in Akwa Ibom, saying defaulters of the law risk fines and three years imprisonment.
In her reaction, First Lady of the state, Chief (Mrs) Unoma Ekaette Akpabio, commended the House of Assembly and the governor for the pro-women law, describing the passage of the law as a breakthrough for the womenfolk in the state.
According to her, “I appreciate the state House of Assembly and the state governor for standing with the womenfolk through this law. Akwa Ibom State has, in the last five years, shown itself as pro-masses and pro-women.”
Am really sad that this is happening in my state

78-year-old Mariana Ong’ango Ololo, a new pupil at Obambo Primary School, is not only the oldest pupil in her class, the grandmother is also the oldest pupil in the school. Ololo, who hails from Siaya county, reportedly showed up at the school unannounced on 14 May, in a school uniform with a shaved head and accompanied by her 56-year-old son George. The school principal Joseph Muloand told the Daily Nation, “It is a unique case. We have to lay down a strategy of handling such an elderly pupil.” Ololo has already missed classes on several occasions due to her poor health. Continues after cut:

The Nation reports that she is a mother of eight and has been a widow since 2002. She reportedly started school because of an interest in politics and was inspired to do so by the election of Uhuru Kenyatta. She told the Daily Nation, "“Uhuru Kenyatta is not an old man, but took over as fourth President because he has got an education. That is a clear indicator that a person cannot rank highly in society without an education.”Her story is very similar to that of Guinness World Record holder Kimani Maruge who enrolled in primary school at the age of 84. Maruge had a 2010 movie, called The First Grader, made about his experience.

The fire which started around 4;10am at the buttery area of the hall was as a result of an electrical failure. News reaching us has it that the fire service came around 5;25 am when the fire had already done serious damage. Goods and property worth thousands of naira was reported to have been lost to the fire.

The Cyber café beside the buttery was also affected but some computers and computer accessories were salvaged. The warden of the hall released a statement in respect of the fire outbreak and told ‘Tedderites’ to keep calm and not use this opportunity to perpetrate nefarious activities in the hall....

After so many years of hiding her relationship from the world, Beyonce is now opening up and sharing intimate details of her marriage with JayZ. She posted this pic on Tumbir perhaps to silence rumors of a pregnancy. (pregnant women don't drink wine right?)

Anyway, they look so cute together. JayZ looking like a teenager....

I WEAR THE SAME WRIST WATCH WITH JAY-Z - D'BANJ

The kokomaster himself!
In a very recent interview with Punch, the kokomaster was asked to mention the most expensive fashion item he has gotten so far and he replied with "I’m always wearing expensive things; like now, I have two watches on my wrist. I’m putting on a Franck Muller, master of complication. It goes for at least $50,000. The other is a big face, the same one Jay-Z is rocking." Oh by the way, he says he is a romantic!
See excerpts from the interview below:

How would you describe your fashion style?

I don’t know. I just dress how I want to be addressed. Sometimes, I want to look like a biker, sometimes I want to look like a billionaire. I wanted to get myself a power bike until I started making it. I had to decide against it because if I get injured, I would not be able to perform. Right now, I can only ride through video games.

Why do you often change your look, especially with your sideburns?

I change that based on how I feel. Like right now, I look like Will Smith. It just reflects how I feel.

Do you ever feel sad?

Yes, there are times I feel sad. A lot of things can make me feel sad, I’m a human being. I can watch a movie and feel sad, I can have issues with someone and feel sad. It depends. But I hardly let that show outside.

Are you a romantic person?

Yes, when I have to, when I’m with the right person.

How do you know the right person?

That is why it is called romance. Don’t make a ‘whore’ a housewife.

How many pairs of glasses do you own?

The ones I cannot use anymore and everybody knows is like 60. I change them everyday, the one I’m wearing is new. It’s Bespoke by Tommy Hilfiger.

What is your fashion weakness?

Before, I thought it was the suit. Later I thought it was the jewelry, but now I just think it is everything. It might just be a T-shirt or something intriguing. For me, I don’t know but I believe fashion is about how you feel. Dress how you want to be addressed. It is not about the shoe, or the watch, it is a full package.

Do you have plans of owning a fashion line?

We already did that. I have not worn a suit that is not Nigerian made in more than eight years, including what I’m wearing now. I look better than Dolce & Gabana. My favourite Nigerian designer is Bespoke by Okunoren Twins. I’ve been rocking them. Most occasions, I rock Nigerian designers. I do very well with international designers but I’m more comfortable in Nigerian wears. Recently, we went into merchandising and I was thinking of doing Koko wear; but a lot of people in my team thought the logo for DB Records was such a great logo for a clothing line. We are rocking it, you must have seen pictures of the gold DB Records when I was granting an interview. We are coming out with our merchandise.

Who has been your fashion icon over the years?

A lot of people. I have Kanye West, David Beckham…let’s leave it like that.

Are you imitating Kanye West’s looks?

No, does Kanye have side burns? He doesn’t. I have always had my looks, especially with the side burns. I could make them thinner, fatter, or just remove everything.

LYDIA NSEKERA IS THE FIRST WOMAN TO BE ELECTED TO THE FIFA COMMITEE

FIFA welcomed three female members on to its Executive Committee following a historic election at the FIFA Congress in Mauritius. Lydia Nsekera earns her place on the committee after receiving the most votes (95) in the first-ever election for a female candidate and is elected for four years, while Moya Dodd (70 votes) and Sonia Bien-Aime (38 votes), will also join FIFA’s top table as co-opted members, for one year.
